Watch your hair grow
How your hair grows
Your hair goes through three phases. The time when it actually grows, the resting phase (usually three to four months) and the final phase when it releases from the follicle and falls out naturally.
Of course, not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time ( we have hair on our heads all the time), but it can be good to understand what phase your hair is in right now, so you don't get frustrated that it takes time to grow.
Understanding what stops your hair from growing
Of course your genes determine to some extent how fast your hair grows, but you can improve your lifestyle and the choices you make your hair. Some of the most well-known factors that prevent hair from growing are thyroid problems, hormonal imbalance, malnutrition (resulting from eg crash diets, heavy exercise, lack of protein and iron) and stress. External influences also contribute, of course. We subject our hair daily to tight sets, hot tools and rough handling with the brush, which causes it to wear out faster than it grows.
